Literature as an expression of personality

    

               In  the  second  part  of  ' SOME  WAYS  OF  STUDYING  LITERATURE '  by HUDSON  deals  with  literature  as  an  expression  of  personality. When  we  are  talking  about  any  types  of  literature  like  poetry,  prose,  novel,  short story,  essay  we  have  in  our  mind  reflect  the  most  famous  poet  and  author  personality.  Literature  as  an  expression  of  personality  refer  to  the  idea that  a  writers  personality , experience , perspectives  are  reflected  their  literary  work .  This  ideas  suggest  thet  literature  is  a  window  into  the  author's  inner   world   revealing  their  thoughts ,  feeling  and  values. 

         

       

                 In  this  book  HUDSON  give  the  concept  of  literature  as  an  expression  of    personality. 

             

                    Hudson  start  with  the  definition  of  literature  , by  Matthew  Arnold  , "literature  is  interpretation  of  life   and   literature  is  the   criticism  of  life ".   

             Hudson say  that, "  A  great  book  is  born  of  brain  and  hearts  if  it's  author ; he  has  put  himself  in  his  pages ; they  partake  of  his  life , and  are  instinct  with  his  individuality. 

                      That  means  all  of  literary  woks  come  to  author  heart  and  brain  and  reflect  author  individuality  ,  personality  and  show  his  lifestyle. So  we  can  say  that  literature  is  the  mirror  of  life. 

              When  we  are  read  any  part  of  literature  first  the  most  important  that  we  know  the  author   and  understand  the  work  of  art . Author  known  his  life  to  the  reader  through  his  idea,  sentence,  vocabulary  and  words. He  represent  his  life  style  in  the basis  of  literature.  Literature give  shape  of  writers  personality  through  his  idea, emotional, imagery, feeling,  writing  style. According   to  a  french  epigram,  "  Art  is  life  seen   through  a  temperament ".  Reader  read  not  only  author's  book  but  he  focus  that  what  writer  tell  for  us. We  are  fully  enter  his  work  and  known  his  message  that  how  he  want  to  say ? Reader  not  only  judge  this  book  but   he judge  author   and  his  personality. And  writer  aware  to  the  readers  frome  the  social  problem, personal  problem  and  give   essential  information  today's  situation.

                       According   to  the  Milton, "a  good  book  is  the  precious  life  blood  of  a  master  spirit  embalmed  and   treasured  up  on  the  purpose  of  life  beyond  life ".

             That  means  good  book  gives  reader  to  right  way  and  give  spirit  of  his  life.  Writer  give  purpose  of  life.  Literary  great  book  is  similar  to  life  blood. There  are  many  author  become  familiar  to  the  readers   and  known  for  his  literary  work. 

For  example :-

            Edgar Allan Poe  dark  introspective  stories  mirroring  his  struggle  with  loss  meatal health.  

                    When  we  are  reading  author  literary  work  we  observed  that  how  writer  express  his   idea  through   his  literary  work  and  how  impress  his  reader  and  connected  reader  his  story , poem  and  novel. This  help  we  understand  writers  personalities,  character  , strength , outlook,  weakness. 

                    Literature  interpretation  of  life  writer  give  all  his  experience  in  his  life  and  he  speak  deeply  that  how  he  think  about   society  and  what  he  he  want  to  this  society.  He  express  his  belief , opinion and  give   best  way  for  successful  life . 

                      Now  we  are  understand through  Hudson  central  concept  of  literature  as  an   expression of  personality.
